비트리 갤러리는 권용래 작가의 개인전 《빛이 머무는 순간》을 서울과 부산에서 선보입니다. 서울점에서는 현재 전시가 진행 중이며(4월 23일–5월 30일), 부산점에서는 오는 5월 20일부터 6월 13일까지 이어질 예정입니다. 권용래는 ‘빛’을 주요 매체로 삼아 회화와 부조의 경계를 확장해 온 작가로, 물질과 지각 사이의 관계를 지속적으로 탐구해왔습니다. 특히 스테인리스 스틸 유닛을 반복적으로 두들겨 구성한 작업은 빛을 분절시키며, 반사와 굴절을 통해 끊임없이 변화하는 시각적 경험을 만들어냅니다. 그의 작업은 고정된 이미지를 제시하기보다, 관람자의 위치와 시간, 빛의 변화에 따라 새롭게 생성되는 ‘경험으로서의 회화’를 제안합니다. 차가운 금속 표면은 빛과 만나 감각적이고 유기적인 색의 흐름을 만들어내며, 회화적 환영과 물질적 실재 사이의 긴장과 균형을 형성합니다. 이번 전시 《빛이 머무는 순간》은 빛이 머무르고 스며드는 찰나의 순간들을 다양한 방식으로 펼쳐 보입니다. 관람자는 작품 앞에서 단일한 이미지를 마주하기보다, 끊임없이 변화하는 빛의 흐름 속에서 각기 다른 장면과 감각을 경험하게 될 것입니다.

B-tree gallery presents The Moment Light Lingers, a solo exhibition by Kwon Yongrae, on view in both Seoul and Busan. The exhibition is currently on view at the Seoul space (April 23–May 30), and will open at the Busan space from May 20 through June 13. Kwon Yongrae explores the relationship between materiality and perception by employing “light” as a primary medium, expanding the boundaries between painting and relief. His works do not merely represent light; rather, they reveal how light operates within objects, space, and the viewer’s perception. In particular, his stainless steel works are central to his practice. Composed of dozens to hundreds of repeatedly hammered metal units, the surfaces fragment light, generating ever-changing visual fields through reflection and refraction. Rather than presenting a fixed image, his work proposes “painting as experience,” one that continuously shifts according to the viewer’s position, the passage of time, and changing light conditions. The cool materiality of metal transforms in interaction with light, producing sensuous and organic flows of color that create a dynamic tension between pictorial illusion and material reality. The Moment Light Lingers brings together these explorations, presenting fleeting instances in which light settles and permeates. Viewers are invited to encounter not a single, fixed image, but a constantly evolving interplay of light, revealing new scenes and sensations with each moment.
