The solo exhibition 《 Things Before Things 》 by Mang ilsun, held at B-tree gallery Seoul from June 18 to July 18, 2026, has come to a close with your generous support.

The still lifes, quietly breathing in the darkness, were able to begin telling their own stories through your warm attention and the moments you spent with them.

We sincerely thank everyone who took a pause from the demands of everyday life to share in these silent moments shaped by light and shadow. We hope that the unfamiliar sense of tension and quiet beauty experienced throughout the exhibition will remain with you as a gentle and lasting memory.

‘The white road’

비트리 갤러리는 2026년 9월 3일부터 10월 3일까지 김효선 개인전 《The white road》을 개최합니다.

이번 전시는 달 항아리의 전통적인 제작 방식인 ‘업다지기’​를 현대적으로 재해석한 김효선의 도자 작업을 통해, 서로 다른 물질이 만나 생성하는 시간의 흔적과 조형적 가능성을 조명합니다.

김효선의 작업은 흙과 유리, 유약이라는 서로 다른 성질의 재료가 맞닿는 경계에서 시작됩니다. 작가는

이를 ‘병렬 하이브리드(Parallel Hybrid)’​라는 개념으로 풀어내며, 물질들이 만나고 변화하는 과정 자체를 작품의 중요한 조형 언어로 삼습니다. 소성 과정에서 자연스럽게 형성되는 빙렬 문양과 유리가 녹아 흐른 흔적은 계획된 결과가 아닌 시간과 불이 만들어낸 기록이며, 차가운 유리와 따뜻한 흙의 물성이 하나의

형태 안에서 공존하며 독특한 긴장과 균형을 이룹니다.

전시 제목 《The White Road》는 단순히 백색의 아름다움을 의미하는 것이 아니라, 흙이 도자가 되기까지 지나온 시간의 여정을 상징합니다. 절제된 형태와 깊이 있는 백색의 표면은 수많은 선택과 기다림, 그리고 예측할 수 없는 변화를 품은 결과물이며, 관람자는 그 흔적을 따라 물질과 시간이 교차하는 풍경을 마주하게 됩니다.

비트리 갤러리 서울점에서 선보이는 이번 전시는 전통적인 도예 기법과 현대적인 조형 언어가 만나는 지점을 통해, 백색이 품고 있는 시간의 깊이와 물질의 가능성을 새롭게 제안합니다.

B-tree gallery is pleased to present The White Road, a solo exhibition by Hyosun Kim, on view from September 3 to October 3, 2026.

This exhibition explores the traces of time and the sculptural possibilities that emerge through the encounter of different materials, featuring Hyosun Kim’s ceramic works that reinterpret the traditional moon jar forming technique of up-dajigi in a contemporary context.

Kim’s practice begins at the boundary where clay, glass, and glaze—materials with distinct physical properties—meet. She describes this process through the concept of “Parallel Hybrid,” using the interaction and transformation of materials themselves as a primary sculptural language. The crackled surfaces that naturally develop during firing and the flowing traces of melted glass are not predetermined effects, but records created by time and fire. Within a single form, the cool transparency of glass and the warmth of clay coexist, creating a unique tension and delicate balance.

The exhibition title, The White Road, signifies more than the beauty of the color white. It represents the journey of clay as it transforms into ceramic. The restrained forms and deeply layered white surfaces embody countless decisions, patient waiting, and unpredictable moments of change. As viewers follow these traces, they encounter a landscape where material and time intersect.

Presented at B-tree gallery Seoul, The White Road highlights the point at which traditional ceramic techniques converge with contemporary sculptural language, offering a renewed perspective on the depth of time contained within white and the expressive potential of material itself.
