비트리 갤러리 서울점은 새해 첫 전시로 이상협 작가의 개인전 〈은빛, 머무는 자리〉를 선보입니다. 이번 전시는 은공예의 섬세한 미감과 조형적 사유를 바탕으로, ‘머무름’이라는 시간의 개념을 탐구하는 작가의 작업 세계를 조명합니다.이상협의 작품은 은의 표면을 수없이 두드리고 달구는 반복적인 과정 속에서 완성됩니다. 연꽃잎을 닮은 유려한 곡선과 미세한 요철은 장식적 요소를 넘어, 작가의 손과 시간이 축적된 흔적으로 남습니다. 반짝이는 은빛과 그 위에 새겨진 흔적들은 순간과 영원을 오가며 존재의 시간성을 상징합니다.작가는 장인 정신을 단순한 기술의 숙련이 아닌, 반복되는 노동 속에 자신을 쏟아붓는 태도로 이해합니다. 은이라는 재료와의 끊임없는 대화를 통해 탄생한 작품들은 말 대신 형태로, 설명 대신 흔적으로 관객과 조용히 소통합니다. 달 항아리와 연꽃잎 형상의 은 기물들은 자연의 흐름과 인간의 노동이 만나는 지점에 자리하며, 차가운 금속을 숨을 고르는 존재로 변화시킵니다.빠른 속도와 즉각적인 소비가 일상이 된 현대 사회에서, 이번 전시는 잠시 멈춰 서서 자신의 감각과 내면을 들여다보는 시간을 제안합니다. 비트리 갤러리 서울점에서 선보이는 〈은빛, 머무는 자리〉는 은의 속삭임과 함께, 관람자의 시간 속에 고요히 머무는 전시가 될 것입니다.

William Lee’s Silver: Letting Time Linger

B-tree gallery Seoul presents Silver, a Lingering Space, a solo exhibition by William Lee and the gallery’s first exhibition of the new year. This exhibition explores the artist’s practice through the concept of “lingering,” expressed through the delicate aesthetics and sculptural contemplation of silver craft. Lee’s works are formed through repetitive processes of hammering and heating the surface of silver. The flowing curves reminiscent of lotus petals and the subtle undulations of the material go beyond decorative elements, becoming traces of the artist’s hands and the time embedded within them. The shimmering surface of silver, marked by these accumulated gestures, moves between the momentary and the eternal, evoking the temporality of existence. For the artist, craftsmanship is not merely a mastery of technique, but an attitude of devotion that pours the self into repetitive labor. Through an ongoing dialogue with silver as a material, Lee’s works communicate quietly with viewers, speaking through form rather than words and leaving impressions instead of explanations. His silver vessels, shaped like moon jars and lotus petals, occupy a space where the rhythms of nature meet human labor, transforming cold metal into a presence that seems to pause and breathe. In a contemporary society driven by speed and instant consumption, this exhibition invites viewers to slow down and turn inward.
