Sharing thoughts through art, discovering new perspectives, and spending meaningful moments together with our visitors have made this year truly special for us. 2025 has been a meaningful year for us, one filled with inspiring encounters, thoughtful exchanges, and memorable moments shared through exhibitions and art fairs both in Korea and abroad. 오는 1월, B-tree gallery에서는 전통적인 금속 제작 방식을 바탕으로 은이라는 재료의 물성과 동양적 정신성을 탐구해 온 이상협 작가의 개인전 〈은빛, 머무는 자리〉를 선보입니다. 이상협 작가는 은을 직접 두드리는 수공의 과정을 통해 금속을 단순한 기능적 기물을 넘어 사유와 정신성을 담은 오브제로 확장해 왔습니다. 차갑고 은은하게 빛나는 은의 표면은 마치 감각을 정화하듯 고요한 분위기를 자아내며, 관람객을 사색의 상태로 이끕니다. 작가에게 기물은 쓰임을 위한 대상이 아니라, 시간과 행위, 그리고 사유가 축적된 결과물입니다. 반복적인 두드림의 과정 속에서 금속은 점차 형태를 얻고, 그 표면에는 작가의 호흡과 리듬, 그리고 시간이 남긴 흔적이 고스란히 새겨집니다. 이러한 흔적들은 빠르게 소비되는 이미지의 시대 속에서 천천히 바라보고 오래 머무는 감상의 태도를 제안합니다. 〈은빛, 머무는 자리〉는 재료의 물성에 집중함과 동시에 동양적 사유의 깊이를 다시금 성찰하는 전시입니다. 관람객 여러분께서도 작품 앞에 잠시 머물며, 은이 만들어내는 고요한 에너지와 마주해 보시기를 바랍니다.

Silver, a Lingering Space

This January, B-tree gallery presents Silver, a Lingering Space, a solo exhibition by William Lee, an artist who explores the material presence of silver and Eastern contemplative sensibilities through traditional metalworking techniques. Working through a time-honored hand-hammering process, Lee approaches silver not merely as a functional material, but as a spiritual object imbued with thought and presence. The cool, softly luminous surface of silver evokes a sense of quiet purification, drawing viewers into a state of stillness and reflection. For the artist, each vessel is not an object defined by use, but the result of accumulated time, gesture, and contemplation. Through repetitive hammering, the metal gradually takes form, its surface bearing traces of breath, rhythm, and the passage of time. These subtle marks invite viewers to slow their gaze and engage in sustained observation, an experience increasingly rare in a fast-paced, image-saturated world. Silver, a Lingering Space offers an opportunity to reflect on materiality and Eastern modes of thought, proposing a moment of pause within contemporary visual culture. Visitors are encouraged to linger with the works, allowing the quiet energy of silver to unfold over time.
