비트리 갤러리는 2025년 1월 새해를 맞아 연초 특별 기획으로 17人의 현대미술작가와 함께 특별한 전시를 선보이고 있습니다. 2월 15일까지 진행되는 이번 《Present is PRESENT》전시는 선물 그리고 현재를 나타내는 동음이의어로 현재를 살아가는 순간들이 모두 선물이자 그 소중한 선물은 늘 지금, 항상 함께하고 있다는 의미를 담고 있습니다. 비트리 갤러리와 2024년을 함께한 그리고 2025년을 함께 이루어 나갈 17명의 현대미술, 공예작가와 함께 한 해를 시작하며 준비한 특별한 선물 같은 전시이니, 많은 관심과 방문 바랍니다.
To celebrate the new year in January 2025, B-tree gallery is presenting a special exhibition with 17 contemporary artists as a special project at the beginning of the year. This 《Present is PRESENT》 exhibition, which runs until February 15th, is a homonym for gift and present. It contains the meaning that all the moments of living in the present are gifts and that that precious gift is always with you now and always. This exhibition is like a special gift prepared to start the year with 17 contemporary art and craft artists who have been with B-tree gallery in 2024 and will be with us in 2025, so we ask for your interest and visit.

B-tree gallery : ARTIST OF THE MONTH
이학민 Hakmin Lee
이학민(b.1985) 작가는 서울을 기반으로 활동하는 아티스트이자, 리빙 오브제, 가구, 드로잉 그리고 회화 등 다양한 분야의 작업들을 선보이고 있다. 작가는 장르간의 경계가 허물어지는 현상에 흥미를 느끼며 이를 자신만의 독특한 시각 언어로 표현하고 있다.
작가는 대학생인 당시 동경하던 더치 디자인을 경험하기 위해 네덜란드 에인트호벤으로 유학간 것을 시작으로 본격적으로 작업에 몰두하였다. 유머러스 / 크래프츠맨십 / 컨텍추얼 이 세가지를 본인 그리고 작품의 상징적 키워드로 꼽는다. 만화, 광고, 게임 등 다양한 하위문화적인 코드들을 차용하여 익숙하면서도 낯선 이미지를 창조하며, 획일화된 현대 소비사회 속 개인의 정체성에 관하여 질문을 던진다. 작품 속의 심드렁한 표정의 인물들은 냉소적인 시선을 드러내며, 작가 특유의 유머러스한 방식으로 이야기를 전달하고 있다.
Hakmin Lee (b. 1985) is an artist based in Seoul and presents works in a variety of fields, including living objects, furniture, drawings, and paintings. The artist is interested in the phenomenon of the breakdown of boundaries between genres and expresses this in his own unique visual language.
The artist devoted himself to his artwork, starting with studying abroad in Eindhoven, Netherlands, to experience the Dutch design he admired at the time as a college student. He choose these three things – humorous / craftsmanship / contextual – as symbolic keywords for himself and his artwork. By borrowing various subcultural codes such as comics, advertisements, and games, he creates images that are both familiar and unfamiliar, and raises questions about individual identity in a modern, standardized consumer society. The sad-faced characters in the work reveal a cynical perspective, and the story is told in the author’s unique humorous way.
